Apps available December 6 through January 9 through the Illinois Rental Payment Program

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant announced today that residents and landlords of Will County will have another option to apply for up to $ 25,000 in rent assistance through the Illinois Rent Payment Program (ILRPP) from Monday, December 6 2021 to January 9, 2022.

“Over the past year, we have been able to provide more than $ 23 million in rent assistance to tenants and landlords in Will County who have been affected by COVID-19,” said Bertino-Tarrant. “I am happy that we are able to open a new application window to help families who still need help and to offer homeowners financial assistance for unpaid rents.”

ILRPP is administered by the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) on behalf of Will County. The program began in the spring of 2021 and has successfully assisted thousands of residents of Will County. With the first round of funding fully distributed in October, IHDA announced that the second application window will be made available to eligible landlords and tenants who are still requesting assistance.

Tenants and landlords can find more information about the joint application and the eligibility requirements at willcountyillinois.org. Online applications will be available on the IHDA website from Monday, December 6.e, and will close on January 9e.

Applicants are eligible up to 18 months of help. The grant can cover rent arrears for the past 15 months and future rent assistance for the next three months, if deemed necessary. Rents due from June 2020 to April 2022 can be paid with ILRPP funds. The the maximum grant amount is $ 25,000. Payments are made directly to the owner.

“The program can be a lifeline in keeping families home, especially at this time of year,” Bertino-Tarrant said. “I would like to thank our partners who continue to help reach out to residents of Will County who are still struggling with the pandemic and assist them with the application process.”

Will County works closely with local partner agencies to assist residents with the application process. Residents who need assistance in applying can contact the agencies, who will work with them to ensure all requirements are met:
